Overview

Robin War is a single storyline that takes place across the Grayson, Detective Comics, We are Robin, and Robin: Son of Batman series. It begins with Robin War #1, travels through all of these series, and concludes with Robin War #2. These issues should all be read in the order detailed above in order for the story to make sense.

There are also three tie-in issues relating to this event. These issues come from the Red Hood/Arsenal, Gotham Academy, and Teen Titans series. They are absolutely not needed in order to understand the Robin War plotline. In fact, they have much more to do with their individual series than they have to do with Robin War. Meaning that they will only make sense if readers have read the previous issues in that particular series. Tie-in issues can be skipped or read out of order if necessary.

Before Reading

Readers looking to gain some knowledge and background behind what lead to this event should consider brushing up on the history of the Court of Owls in Gotham City. The entirety of this history can be found in Batman Vol. 1: The Court of Owls (Review) and Batman Vol. 2: The City of Owls (Review).

Besides this, the only other specific information readers should know before reading is some of the history behind the new “Robins” group. All of this can be found in the first We are Robin story arc, We are Robin Vol. 1: The Vigilante Business (Review).

Any other references this event makes are detailed in the continuity section of our review of the event, which can be found right here.

After Reading

The fallout from this event not immediately felt in any series besides We are Robin, which is only feels the effect slightly in We are Robin Vol. 2: Jokers (Review).

However, the effects of this event are much more pronounced in Nightwing Vol. 1: Better than Batman (Review). This arc deals directly with the fallout from Robin War (Review).
