Batman ’89 and Superman ’78 Hardcover Collections Solicitations are Up

Last month, DC Comics announced two digital first comic book series set in the worlds of Richard Donner’s Superman: The Movie and Tim Burton’s Batman. These comics will debut with six digital chapters of each new series on July 27, followed by new chapters of each comic book for the six weeks that immediately follow. Then, they will be printed as regular comic books before being collected together as full collections.

Now, the solicitations for these two new, hardcover collections are up. Batman ’89 is currently set for release on October 26, 2021 and Superman ’78 is set for November 9, 2021. Both collections will be available as hardcovers. Some of this information was included in DC’s original announcement for the series, however, the new solicitations also indicate the size of these collections. The size given and the fact that there is no “deluxe” in the title indicates that these will be standard-sized collections. Readers should keep in mind that these exact details can change though.

For now, this is all that appears to be planned for these comics. However, if DC sticks to the publishing formula they have been utilizing for a while, I would imagine that paperback versions of these collections will become available at some point in the distant future. This is just speculation though and may not come to be.
