“Batman & The Joker: The Deadly Duo Deluxe Edition” is On the Way

Last year, Batman and the Joker had their own team-up series. Batman & The Joker: The Deadly Duo, by Marc Silvestri, has Harley Quinn and Commissioner Gordon go missing. In response, Batman and the Joker are forced to team-up in order to rescue them and solve the mystery behind their disappearances. Now, this DC Comics Black Label series is being collected in a new Deluxe Edition.

Batman & The Joker: The Deadly Duo Deluxe Edition is currently set for release on September 12, 2023. Though the current solicitation doesn’t officially list the hardcover Deluxe Edition’s contents, it seems like it will gather together the full three-issue miniseries. It is unclear if any bonus material will also be included. This would be the first time this comic miniseries has been collected.

The fact that this series is going straight to a Deluxe Edition printing first is pretty unusual for DC. In most cases, DC publishes volumes as hardcovers first, then as paperbacks, then, if they do very well, as Deluxe Editions. It will be interesting to see if this change in the typical order is a sign of a general change in the way they do business or simply a one-time change.
