DC launches new Dollar Comics this September
The latest batch of DC Comics Solicitations included a bit of a surprise in the return of DC’s Dollar Comics. This new series of comics appears to be focused on reprinting popular or important single issues from the past, for the low price of $1. Right now, there are currently four newly solicited Dollar Comics, with each one containing the first issue of a series or story arc.
This new line of Dollar Comics is rather different from the Dollar Comics of the past. In the past, DC’s Dollar Comics were essentially anthology titles that collected the equivalent of four comic issues of content for the cost of three. These new Dollar Comics appear to be more similar to Marvel’s “True Believers” reprints, which simply offer affordable ways to jump into an old comic book story arc.
The first batch of Dollar Comics will include:
- Dollar Comics: Detective Comics #854
- Release Date: September 4, 2019
- Batwoman: Elegy Part One
- Dollar Comics: Batman #608
- Release Date: September 11, 2019
- Batman: Hush Part One
- Dollar Comics: Harley Quinn #1
- Release Date: September 18, 2019
- The first issue of the Harley Quinn New 52 series.
- Dollar Comics: Crisis on Infinite Earths #1
- Release Date: September 25, 2019
- Part One of the Crisis on Infinite Earths event
