New Monstress and Ascender Deluxe Editions are On The Way
Two new Image Comics Deluxe Editions are coming. Both the Monstress series, by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda, and the Ascender series, by Jeff Lemire and Dustin Nguyen, are set to receive an oversized hardcover. Unfortunately, the details about these two collections are pretty sparse.
Monstress Book Two is currently set for release on July 26, 2022. Ascender: The Deluxe Edition Volume 1 is currently set for release on August 23, 2022. Neither solicitation currently lists what each volume will collect. However, Monstress Book One and the two Decender Deluxe Editions previously collected about three trade paperbacks worth of content. Based on this history, we’d speculate that Monstress Book Two will collect from Monstress Vol. 4 to Monstress Vol. 6 and that Ascender: The Deluxe Edition Volume 1 will collect from Ascender Vol. 1 to Ascender Vol. 3. However, readers should keep in mind that these details are not definite.

There are only 18 issues of Ascender (collected into a total of 4 TPBs), so it’s more likely that the Ascender volume will either collect the first two TPBs, or there will only be a single Ascender volume that collects all 4 TPBs. I’d lean toward the latter, since the two volumes of Descender collected 16 issues each.
