Batwoman (Kate “Kate” Kane) Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give an outline of major storylines featuring Batwoman (Katherine “Kate” Kane) throughout DC Comics. It may not encompass every one of her appearances but is an outline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

New 52

With the beginning of the New 52, the DC Universe’s continuity was reset. Most of Batwoman’s history was wiped clean, however, much of her pre-New 52 history was redefined and reworked for the New 52 era.

Batwoman’s appearances in this era are in her solo series, Batwoman. There, her individual story unfolds in a way that stands apart from the majority of the stories taking place in Gotham City. The exception to this rule is a few minor appearances in other comics, establishing some cooperation between Batwoman and the Bat-family.

Notes
  1. These issues primarily center around Batgirl and only feature Batwoman as a supporting character. They can easily be skipped by anyone exclusively looking for Batwoman's larger appearances.
  2. Batwoman appears as a supporting character in an arc running through these issues. Though her role is pretty small, it may be of interest for readers looking to see Batwoman's team-ups with the Bat-family.
  3. This issue takes place in an alternate future and, therefore, does not have an impact on Batwoman's current storyline. However, it offers a unique reflection on a possible path her character may take.

Rebirth

ComicBookWire is still researching and compiling Batwoman's appearances in this era. A reading order should be available for it sometime in the future.
