Overview

Batman: Endgame (Review) is a DC Comics event centered around a fight between the Joker and Batman. The event details the Joker amplifying his hostility as he believes his ongoing fight against Batman has reached its "Endgame".

This event is centered around the Batman series, where the bulk of the action is found. However, it also extends out into tie-in issues from other comics. These tie-ins are not necessary but help show the events of Endgame from the view of other characters.

*ComicBookWire's reading order for this event is slightly different from the reading order presented in this collection. We suggest reading Batman Annual #3, which is the first issue in the collection, after Batman #36. We suggest this because dialogue in Batman Annual #3 suggests it takes place sometime after Batman #36 and because reading it in this way will preserve a spoiler that would be ruined otherwise.

Before Reading

Batman: Endgame is essentially a sequel to Batman: Death of the Family (Review) (Reading Order). This preceding event is not necessary to understanding Batman: Endgame but will certainly help, as it is referenced a number of times.

Batman: Endgame also receives some build-up in Batman Annual #2 and Batman #34, both of which are collected in Batman: Graveyard Shift (Review).

After Reading

Batman: Endgame is directly continued through the Batman series. Specifically, Batman #41-51, collected across Batman: Superheavy (Review), Bloom (Review), and Epilogue (Review), shows what happens to Bruce Wayne after the Joker's attack.
