Overview

Milk Wars (Review) is a small crossover between characters from mainstream DC Comics and characters from its "Young Animal" imprint. The crossover is told through an opening and closing story and enhanced through three crossover one-shots. Theoretically, it is possible to read this crossover by just reading the opening and closing issues but it reads better if read in the order prescribed here.

Before Reading

Most of the buildup for this event is contained within the four "Young Animal" comics involved in this crossover. This crossover takes place immediately after the events of each comics' second story arc. In this way, the event can be seen as the sequel to the second volume of Doom Patrol, Mother Panic, Shade the Changing Girl (Review), and Cave Carson Has a Cybernetic Eye (Review). On the mainstream hero side of things, Milk Wars (Review) does not take place after any specific comic. In fact, almost nothing about the mainstream heroes' current stories are referenced during Milk Wars.

After Reading

The aftereffects of Milk Wars (Review) are almost exclusively contained within the "Young Animal" titles; the JLA is relatively unaffected by this event. This event reboots three of the "Young Animal" titles, providing the basis for Mother Panic: Gotham A.D., Shade, the Changing Woman, and Cave Carson Has an Interstellar Eye. The event also creates a brand new series following a new character introduced, detailed in Eternity Girl.
