Grifter Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give an outline of major storylines featuring Grifter (Cole Cash) throughout DC Comics. It may not encompass every one of his appearances but is an outline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

New 52

With the start of the New 52, the DC Universe was reset and it was merged with the Wildstorm Universe. Because of this, Grifter, previously exclusive to the Wildstorm Universe, made his first appearances in the DC Universe. These appearances are completely separate from his previous appearances and do not build on his earlier history.

Grifter’s major appearances in this era mostly play out through his solo series, Grifter. There, his battle against Daemonite forces takes center stage. Meanwhile, the Team 7 series explained what Grifter did before the events of Grifter. After Grifter was cancelled on an unresolved cliffhanger, Cole Cash went on to make a few appearances in the Grayson series, where his new role in the DC Universe was revealed.

Notes
  1. The story from Grifter #12 is directly continued in this issue. However, it only features a brief appearance from Grifter. Plus, the story here doesn't have a big impact on Grifter's life from this point forward.
  2. Grifter only make an extremely brief appearance in this issue. However, it helps explain a new character's presence in Grifter #13.
  3. Grayson #9 and #13 only really have cameo appearances from Grifter. However, these cameos explain his role at this point in time and help set up the events of Grayson #16-18, where Grifter has a more significant presence.

Rebirth

As of now, Grifter does not appear in the mainstream DC Universe after the New 52 era.

However, during the Rebirth era, DC relaunched the Wildstorm Universe through The Wild Storm series. Grifter plays a significant role in this new Wildstorm Universe. ComicBookWire will be explaining this role and developing a reading order for that alternate reality version of Grifter in an upcoming "Grifter (Wildstorm Version) Reading Order".
