Olive Silverlock Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give an outline of major storylines featuring Olive Silverlock throughout DC Comics. It may not encompass every one of her appearances but is an outline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

New 52

Near the end of the New 52 era, the Gotham Academy series began and, with it, came a host of new characters. One of these characters, Olive Silverlock, costarred in this series alongside Maps Mizoguchi (Reading Order).

Olive Silverlock’s adventures are almost always tied to events taking place in Gotham Academy or with the unofficial Gotham Academy Detective Club. Her personal journey becomes a central plot point for this series and is the primary focus of Gotham Academy: Welcome to Gotham Academy (Review) and Gotham Academy: Calamity (Review). Though Gotham Academy Vol. 3: Yearbook (Review) places less focus on this plot point, the focus returns when Olive’s adventures transition into the Rebirth era.

Batgirl issues are from the Vol. 4 series.

Notes

1. These issues have Olive and Maps (Reading Order) meet Batgirl and have the group briefly team-up. Olive mostly serves as a supporting character during this story arc.
2. This issue is a tie-in to the Robin War (Reading Order) event.
3. Though this issue stars Olive and a few other members of the Detective Club (Reading Order), it places most of its focus on scary stories about the Joker (Reading Order). It can easily be skipped if necessary.
4. Olive is a main character in this crossover but the events here do not have any significant impact on her personal journey.

Rebirth

The transition from New 52 to Rebirth contains no continuity changes for Olive Silverlock. In fact, her adventures in this era directly continue the Olive-centric narrative that, temporarily, went away after Gotham Academy: Calamity (Review).

Olive's adventures here are completely contained within the Gotham Academy: Second Semester (Reading Order) series. This new series is a direct sequel to the Gotham Academy series.
