Perpetua Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give an outline of major storylines featuring Perpetua throughout DC Comics. It may not encompass every one of her appearances but is an outline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

Rebirth/Universe

Perpetua and the cosmic secrets surrounding her were introduced in this era and did not appear before it.

Perpetua’s first comic book appearances are brief but, eventually, she takes on an extremely large role in the DC Universe. Her story roughly follows the progression of Scott Snyder’s run on the Justice League (Reading Order). This starts in the Justice League (Reading Order) series, where her history and role in the DC Multiverse is revealed. This goes on to set up the Year of the Villain: Hell Arisen series, which directly sets up the Dark Nights: Death Metal (Reading Order) event. This event is the climax of both Scott Snyder’s Justice League and Perpetua’s storyline.

1. Perpetua only makes an extremely brief appearance in this issue. However, information revealed here and the issue's place as her first physical appearance make it essential.
2. In these issues of Dark Nights: Death Metal (Reading Order), Perpetua only appears through flashbacks. These are not essential but help give a better picture of her involvement in this event as a whole.
3. This issue shows more from a fight involving Perpetua that starts in Dark Nights: Death Metal #5. However, this fight mostly plays out in the background of this issue and, thus, is not essential.
