“The Batman Who Laughs” Comics Are Getting a Deluxe Edition

The Batman Who Laughs (Reading Order) has had an interesting journey over the past few years. He started as a central figure in the Dark Nights: Metal (Reading Order) event, then went on to star in his own series, then had some sporadic clashes with the Justice League, before finally taking on the main role in the Dark Nights: Death Metal (Reading Order) event. Now, his miniseries is set to be collected in a new Deluxe Edition.

The Batman Who Laughs Deluxe Edition is currently set for release on April 18, 2023. This new collection is set to gather together the full seven-issue Batman Who Laughs miniseries and the one-shot special issue The Batman Who Laughs: The Grim Knight. Together, these comics tell a full storyline written by one of the creators of the Batman Who Laughs, Scott Snyder.

With this release, more of the appearances by the Batman Who Laughs will be available in Deluxe Hardcover format. His appearances and origin story from Dark Nights: Metal are already collected in the Dark Nights: Metal Omnibus. In a similar way, many of his appearances from Death Metal are collected in the Dark Nights: Death Metal Deluxe Edition and it seems likely that his other Death Metal appearances could be collected in a Death Metal Omnibus Edition (based on DC’s past, something like this seems likely, but it is not a guarantee). His appearances in Batman/Superman and in Year of the Villain are less likely to be collected like this, however, they would work perfectly in a prelude to Dark Nights: Death Metal Deluxe Edition. For now though, we’ll have to just wait and see exactly how much will be released in this way.
