Aquaman Movie Watching Order

This watching order is designed to give an outline of major storylines featuring Aquaman throughout his film appearances. It highlights the different eras in Aquaman film history, explains the different continuities that exist, and looks at any connections that exist between them. This list does not focus on Aquaman’s television or animated film appearances but does note if/when they tie-in to a relevant continuity.

DC Extended Universe (DCEU)

Aquaman’s film debut is within the DC Extended Universe. This is a shared universe consisting of several DC Comics properties. Check here for a full DCEU Watching Order.

Aquaman has four appearances in the DCEU, all of which feature Jason Momoa as Aquaman. His character is initially introduced through a quick cameo in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016). Then, he makes his first full appearance in Justice League (2017). This appearance helps set up his first solo film: Aquaman (2018). After this, he makes a quick, humorous cameo in the season finale of Peacemaker season one.

Most recently, Aquaman stared in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. This is a direct sequel to Aquaman so fans should see make sure to see the first movie before watching the second.

Viewers interested in seeing Aquaman’s role in this era should absolutely watch all of these films in the order presented here, as each appearance builds on the appearance before it.

  1. Aquaman's appearance in this film is just a cameo. However, it helps set up his later appearance in Justice League.
  2. Aquaman only appears briefly, near the end of this episode. His appearance is mostly to make a joke that serves as the climax to several jokes made throughout the series.
