The Indiana Jones franchise starts with Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981). Fans do not need to watch anything prior to this first film.
Altogether, the Indiana Jones franchise progresses is a very straightforward manner. The original trilogy of films were all created in the 1980s and should all be viewed in the order they were released. This starts with Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), continues with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984), and continues again with Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). For the most part, these films are well regarded and considered to be the franchise’s essential films.
Then, a few decades later, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008) was released. This film was met with a more mixed reception. However, the film directly continues the narrative of the series, bringing back familiar characters and a few ongoing plotlines. It should be viewed after the original three films.
