Jurassic Park

The Jurassic Park film franchise starts with Jurassic Park (1993). This film starts the entire Jurassic Park franchise and is the first entry in the original series of films.

The initial Jurassic Park trilogy proceeds in a very straightforward manner. It starts with Jurassic Park (1993), is followed closely by The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), and ends with Jurassic Park III (2001). All of these films follow a shifting cast of characters but the narrative is consistently focused on the creation of Jurassic Park and the fallout from its creation.

Jurassic World

The Jurassic World series of films began releasing about 14 years after the original series concluded. This new series is set in the same world as the original trilogy and takes place in many of the same locations, but takes place years later.

The main films in the Jurassic World series of films also proceed in a straightforward manner. The series starts with Jurassic World (2015), continues with Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018), and is set to continue again with the upcoming film Jurassic World: Dominion (2022). These films generally follow the adventures of two main characters and the aftermath of the reopening of the dinosaur theme park.

The Jurassic World series of films are also accompanied by the Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous TV series and a few short films. The TV series follows a different cast of characters from the movies but takes place around the same time. The series even intersects the films in a few places (see the "Notes" section below for an explanation). Meanwhile, the short films serve as preludes or epilogues to the main movies (see the "Notes" section below for links to each short film).
