The Conjuring Watching Order

This watching order is designed to give an outline of The Conjuring movie franchise. It explains what order to watch the movies and looks at any connections between them. 

This viewing order is organized the order in which the films were released. It is recommended for fans who want to see the films for the first time. The Conjuring Watching Order

The Conjuring franchise starts with The Conjuring (2013). Fans do not need to watch anything prior to this first film.

The franchise is essentially split into a main storyline and several tie-in storylines. The Conjuring films are the main films in the franchise. Characters from The Conjuring then go on to star in their own tie-in films. For example, Annabelle appears in The Conjuring (Continuity) and then goes on to star in three Annabelle movies.

When it comes to the watching order for The Conjuring films, we suggest watching the full series in release order. Following the chart below, from top to bottom, will give this order. However, viewers can also choose to simply follow a single storyline from the series. Picking a single column from the chart and following it from top to bottom will give this order.

Main Films

The main Conjuring films are pretty straightforward. They all follow Ed and Lorraine Warren as they investigate various paranormal occurrences. Each of these occurrences is relatively separate from the one before it. However, small references are made to earlier films so watching them in order is preferable.

Annabelle Watching Order

The Annabelle series is a spin-off from the main Conjuring films. The Annabelle doll initially appears in The Conjuring (Continuity). Then, the history behind the doll is explored in Annabelle (2014) and Annabelle: Creation (2017). Later, Annabelle Comes Home (2019) explores events that took place immediately after The Conjuring.

The Nun Watching Order

The Nun series is also a spin-off from the main Conjuring films. The Nun initially appears in The Conjuring 2 (Continuity). Then, her history is explored in The Nun (2018). Another Nun film is currently in development.

Other Films

The Curse of La Llarona (2019) is mostly standalone and does not have many connections to The Conjuring Universe. However, a character from Annabelle appears in this film and briefly references the events of Annabelle.
