Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give an outline of major storylines featuring Blue Beetle (Ted Kord) throughout DC Comics. It does not encompass every one of his appearances, but is an outline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

New 52

At the beginning of the New 52, the DC Universe was reset. In this new continuity, Ted Kord was no longer Blue Beetle at all and his history is completely different. He also only makes one appearance in this reality.

Notes
  1. This issue helps provide a lot of context for the scene in Forever Evil. #7. However, it also doesn't have Ted Kord in it at all so it can be skipped if necessary.

Rebirth

At the start of Ted Kord's Rebirth journey, much of his pre-New 52 history is restored. This means his time as a solo hero, his position at Kord Industries, and his departure from heroics due to heart problems are all part of his history once more. However, it appears as if his death and his heavy ties to the Justice League are not fully restored. It is unclear if his time in the New 52 era has been retconned or not. All of these changes are likely due to the reality-altering effects of the Superman: Reborn (Reading Order) event.

Throughout this era, Ted serves as a mentor to the new Blue Beetle, Jamie Reyes (Reading Order). This mostly confines his appearances to the Rebirth Blue Beetle series.
