Justice League of America (New 52) Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give a timeline of major storylines featuring the Justice League of America (New 52 version) throughout DC Comics. It does not encompass every one of their appearances, but is a timeline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

See our “Justice League of America Timeline” for summaries of each story arc in this reading order.

New 52

Throughout DC Comics history, there have been a number of teams going by the name “Justice League of America”. With the start of the New 52, the history of all of these teams was wiped away and the only Justice League was called the “Justice League”. However, not long after the New 52 began, a new Justice League was officially sanctioned by the US Government and deployed as a potential countermeasure against the main Justice League; this became the Justice League of America.

The Justice League of America lasted until the “Forever Evil” storyline, when half of the members left and the team evolved into the “Justice League United”. This timeline follows the team from their origin through the end of their time as the Justice League United.

See our “Justice League of America Timeline” for summaries of each story arc in this reading order.

Notes
  1. Though the majority of the Justice League of America doesn't appear in Forever Evil (Review) until the very end, the events of Forever Evil (Review) tie in with what is happening in Justice League of America Vol. 2: Survivors of Evil (Review).
  2. These two issues are part of the Futures End event. Since this event is an alternate future, rather than something that effects the current storyline, they are not essential to this Justice League's story.
  3. These final few issues signify a major shift in the League's structure and format. Throughout it, the team's roster changes radically and Stargirl is the only remnant of the original team. Because of this, we've placed it on the nonessential portion of the timeline.
