Captain Cold Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give a timeline of major storylines featuring Captain Cold (Leonard Snart) throughout DC Comics. It may not encompass every one of his appearances but is an outline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

New 52

With the start of the New 52, the DC Universe was reset. Captain Cold is introduced as a member of the Rogues (Reading Order) and an antagonist for the Flash (Reading Order). In this role, it is clear some of Captain Cold’s pre-New 52 history is preserved but no specific events are referenced.

Captain Cold was reintroduced through The Flash alongside the rest of the Rogues. He played a role in this series until the events of Forever Evil (Reading Order), at which point he took on a role in the Justice League (Reading Order) series. His role there continued until the events of Justice League: Darkseid War (Reading Order), at which point he began appearing in The Flash again.

Justice League issues are from the Vol. 2 series
Batman and Robin issues are from the Vol. 2 series

Notes

1. This issue only has a brief appearance from Captain Cold and the Rogues (Reading Order). However, it shows what they did at the conclusion of their previous arc.
2. These issues of Forever Evil (Reading Order) take place at the same time as the issues in the "Essential" column. They mostly show the same events from a different point of view but may be of use to fans looking for more context for the Forever Evil event as a whole.
3. These issues only feature brief appearances from Captain Cold. However, they help further demonstrate his connection with the Justice League (Reading Order).
