Superman/Wonder Woman Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give an outline of major storylines featuring the Superman/Wonder Woman team-up throughout DC Comics. It does not encompass every one of their appearances, but is an outline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

New 52

With the beginning of the New 52, the DC Universe’s continuity was reset. Soon after this reset, Superman and Wonder Woman began dating. Their romantic appearances were initially confined to the background of the Justice League (Reading Order) series, where their relationship began to develop. However, the couple eventually went on to star in the Superman/Wonder Woman comic series. Their relationship was also a key element in events like Superman: Doomed (Reading Order), Superman: Savage Dawn (Reading Order), and Superman: The Final Days of Superman (Reading Order).

Justice League issues are from the Vol. 2 series
Superman issues are from the Vol. 3 series

Notes
  1. These issues show the evolution of Superman and Wonder Woman's relationship from something casual to something more serious. However, the focus on their relationship is secondary to the Justice League's actual adventures.
  2. These issues show Superman and Wonder Woman on dates or in romantic situations. They do not contribute much to their overall relationship but somewhat help detail its development.
  3. Only the "Truth or Dare" story from this issue is necessary for this Reading Order.
  4. Superman and Wonder Woman's relationship plays a role in the Superman: Doomed (Reading Order) story arc. However, Wonder Woman does not appear in Superman #30, Action Comics #33, Action Comics #35, or Supergirl #35.
  5. These stories happen in an alternate future so they can be skipped if necessary.
  6. Superman and Wonder Woman's relationship plays a role in the Superman: Savage Dawn (Reading Order) story arc. However, Wonder Woman does not appear in Superman #48 or Superman #50.
  7. These issues take place immediately after Batman/Superman #31 and immediately prior to Action Comics #51, both of which are part of the Superman: The Final Days of Superman (Reading Order) event. However, these issues were published after Superman: The Final Days of Superman and can only be found in collected editions of this storyline. Readers who want to read these issues can choose if they want to read them before Wonder Woman's appearance in The Final Days of Superman, which fits the story order better, or after the conclusion of The Final Days of Superman, which fits the publishing order better.
  8. Superman and Wonder Woman's relationship plays a role in the Superman: The Final Days of Superman (Reading Order) story arc. However, Wonder Woman does not appear in Superman #51 or Batman/Superman #31.

Rebirth

Superman and Wonder Woman's relationship is mentioned in the beginning of the Trinity (Reading Order) series, thus implying it was still in continuity at the beginning of the Rebirth era. However, the continuity altering events of Superman: Reborn (Reading Order) seem to have retconned their relationship from existence.

Instead, their relationship is continued as a friendship in the Trinity (Reading Order) series.
