Teen Titans Reading Order

This reading order is designed to give an outline of major storylines featuring the Teen Titans throughout DC Comics. It does not encompass every one of their appearances, but is an outline of the major ones and the stories that affect them.

The continuity details relating to each specific storyline are explained in the “Review” of each storyline. Every “Review” link will provide a detailed continuity breakdown of that story and will explain any reference the story makes to other aspects of the DC Universe. All of this can be found under the “Continuity” section of each link.

New 52

With the start of the New 52, the DC Universe was reset and the Teen Titan’s history was erased. A new version of the team was created at the beginning of this era and existed as the only version of the team for quite a while.

The Teen Titans reappeared in the Teen Titans series. This series starred Bunker (Reading Order), Kid Flash (Reading Order), Red Robin (Reading Order), Solstice (Reading Order), and Wonder Girl (Reading Order), with Superboy (Reading Order) and Raven (Reading Order) participating at times. It portrayed the Teen Titans adventures and allowed them to participate in several crossover events, including The Culling (Reading Order), Batman: Death of the Family (Reading Order), and Forever Evil (Reading Order).

Eventually, the Teen Titans series ended and a new one began. This new series starred Beast Boy (Reading Order), Bunker (Reading Order), Power Girl (Reading Order), Raven (Reading Order) Red Robin (Reading Order), and Wonder Girl (Reading Order), with Kid Flash (Reading Order) and Superboy (Reading Order) making appearances. The new series also seemed to create some vague continuity shifts, as some elements of the Teen Titans’ history are no longer mentioned and Beast Boy is completely different than he was before.

Notes
  1. Though this issue is connected with the Teen Titan's story, it ends up only focusing on Kid Flash (Reading Order). It also primarily focuses on a story that is never mentioned again.
  2. This issue shows the conclusion of the Death of the Family (Reading Order) storyline. However, the only Teen Titan in this issue is Red Robin and he only plays a small role in the story. It can be skipped by fans of the Teen Titans without much consequence.
  3. Forever Evil (Reading Order) jump starts a new story arc for the Teen Titans. However, the events of Forever Evil are summarized at the beginning of this Teen Titans arc.

Rebirth

The Rebirth era introduces few continuity changes for the Teen Titans, but it does introduce an entirely new team. After the previous team disbanded at the conclusion of the previous era, a new team is assembled by Damian Wayne. This team consists of Beast Boy (Reading Order), Kid Flash, Raven (Reading Order), Robin (Reading Order), and Starfire (Reading Order); later on, Aqualad joins the team as well.

The Teen Titans' adventures primarily take place within their titular series. This places them at the center of multiple crossover events, including The Lazarus Contract (Reading Order), Dark Nights: Metal (Reading Order), and Super Sons of Tomorrow. The team stays together until the events of Justice League: No Justice (Reading Order), which caused the reorganization of many teams within the DC Universe.

Notes
  1. Robin (Reading Order) and Aqualad only appear very briefly in this issue. However, their appearances here help set up plotlines in the Teen Titans series.
  2. These issues are mostly about the Super Sons. However, the Teen Titans play a supporting role and their interactions help establish their relationship for the Super Sons of Tomorrow (Review) crossover.
  3. Only the "Holiday Spirit" story from this issue is relevant to this reading order.
  4. The No Justice (Reading Order) event does not actually feature the Teen Titans as a team. However, many members of the team are involved in the event. Plus, the event helps justify the reorganization of the team that takes place at the beginning of the next era.
